Today, the Punjab is the oldest North Indian restaurant in the UK, serving generations of diners in the heart of London’s theatre land. The restaurant boasts customers from all over the world and from all walks of life, including the local residents of Covent Garden, visitors & tourists, students as well as a host of doctors, lawyers and politicians. But back in 1946 when Sital’s grandfather was just starting out in the City of London, things were very different.

Delhi Grill is bringing the dhaba experience to London.

Indian “dhabas” are informal canteens where people from all walks of life sit together and enjoy spicy, delicious street food. The choices often vary by day, but are all cooked properly. Most dishes are marinated overnight or slow cooked. The customer wouldn’t accept anything less.
All of our dishes are cooked according to the traditional recipe with no short-cuts or stir-in sauces. There’s just a few options, and some mouth-watering weekly specials.
Our canteen on Chapel Market in Islington serves delicious tandoori wraps at lunchtime from our market stall outside. And in the evening we serve authentic dhaba food in an informal setting.

Welcome to Ganapati Restaurant, home of south Indian cuisine here in Peckham.

The kitchen is the soul of a restaurant as it is of a home.
It is a place of hard work, companionship, and the sharing of skills and ideas. Our influences are the home style cooking and street food of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Ganapati is one of the south Indian names for the elephant-headed god Ganesh. He is the well-loved remover of obstacles, with a particular fondness for sweets.
